Instead of spending the night staying up way too late – surrounded by throngs of boozy and altogether too loud partygoers – consider spending the weekend being kind to yourself. (1) Get a massage.
Why not make an appointment to treat yourself to a massage? In addition to being deeply relaxing, studies have shown that massage therapy delivers a variety of health benefits. It can alleviate anxiety, insomnia, digestive disorders and is a powerful stress reliever.
(2) Disconnect from your digital life.
Being able to easily access your email, social media and bank accounts on your smartphone and tablet makes it so easy to stay connected on the go. But, it can also make it hard to relax and be present in your life. Take a break from your digital life, even just for a few hours this weekend.
(3) Spend time in a quiet space.
To give you some space to reflect, spend some time in a place where you can be alone with your thoughts. Visit a local museum, botanical garden or even just take a walk in the park.
(4) Treat yourself to a leisurely lunch.
One of the most indulgent and relaxing things you can do for yourself is to treat yourself to a long lunch. If you live in a warm climate, consider finding a café with outdoor seating. But, remember to put your phone away. Instead, bring the newspaper or a magazine you haven’t had time to read.
